Sphynx cats are a special breed known for having almost no fur.

This happens because of a mutation. A mutation is a tiny change in a cat's genes. This change affects a gene called KRT71. This gene helps make strong hair. In Sphynx cats, the hair is very weak. It lacks a solid root. This makes the hair fall out easily.

These cats have many unique parts. They have large, lemon-shaped eyes. They also have very big ears. Their skin can feel like soft leather. Their skin shows the same colors as fur would. For example, they can have tabby markings on their skin.

Because they lack fur, Sphynx cats lose heat fast. They often seek out warm places to rest. They also love to cuddle with people for warmth. These cats are very smart and active. They are often friendly and act like dogs. They may even meet you at the door!

Owners must keep them safe from the sun. Without fur, they can get sunburned easily.
