It has a Y-shaped frame. Two stretchy bands are attached to the top. These bands are made of rubber. A small pouch hangs from the ends of the bands. You hold the frame in one hand. You pull the pouch back with your other hand. This makes the rubber bands tight. When you let go, the bands snap forward. This sends the projectile flying fast.

People have used slingshots for a long time. Early users made them at home. They used a forked tree branch for the handle. They used rubber from old tubes. Some people used them for hunting. They could hunt small animals like rabbits or birds.
