It is on the Orkney Islands. People lived there a long time ago. They lived there from 3180 BC to 2500 BC. This makes it older than the Great Pyramids.

The houses were made of stone. They were built into mounds of waste. This kept the homes warm in the cold winter. Each house had a stone hearth for cooking.

A big storm hit the coast in 1850. The wind blew away the sand and dirt. This showed the stone houses to the world.
