The chapel is used for many religious tasks. It is also where leaders pick a new Pope. This special meeting is called a conclave.

During a conclave, people look for smoke from the roof. White smoke means a new Pope was chosen. Black smoke means they have not chosen one yet.

The chapel is famous for its beautiful art. Many great painters worked on the walls. They painted stories about Moses and Christ.

These paintings are very important to the history of art. Today, many people travel from far away to see them. The chapel is about 35 meters long and wide.
