The Shroud of Turin is a long piece of linen cloth.

It shows a faint image of a man. The image shows his front and his back. Many people believe this cloth was used to wrap Jesus.

Because of this, many people treat it as a sacred object.

There is much debate about the shroud. In 1898, a man named Secondo Pia took photos of it.

He found that a photo negative shows the image more clearly. Some experts think the image was made with paint. They say it was made with red pigment. Other experts disagree with this idea.

In 1988, scientists used a test called radiocarbon dating. This test helps find how old something is. The results said the cloth is from the Middle Ages. This was between the years 1260 and 1390. Some people still argue about these results. They think the samples might have been dirty or repaired. The cloth is now kept in a special glass case. This case helps keep the cloth safe from harm.
