There are four main types of shock.

First is hypovolemic shock. This happens when there is not enough blood or fluid. This can be from bleeding, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Second is cardiogenic shock. This happens when the heart cannot pump well. This might be from a heart attack.

Third is obstructive shock. This happens when something blocks the blood from moving. For example, fluid might build up around the heart.

Fourth is distributive shock. This happens when blood vessels widen too much. This can be from a bad allergy, called anaphylaxis.
