Shang Yang was a famous leader in ancient China. He was born in a small state called Wey. Later, he moved to the State of Qin to work for its ruler.

He made many big changes to help Qin grow. He created new laws that treated people more equally. Under his rules, the law applied to everyone. This included both rich and poor people. He also changed how the army worked. Soldiers earned better ranks based on their success in battle. This made the Qin army very strong.

Shang Yang also helped the economy. He encouraged people to farm on new lands. He gave rewards to farmers who grew a lot of food. These changes helped Qin become a powerful kingdom. This power helped Qin later unify China.

However, many noble people did not like him. They felt his rules took away their power. After his leader died, the new ruler was angry with him. Shang Yang was executed, and his family was also killed.

Even after he died, the leaders of Qin kept his laws. His work changed the way China was ruled for a long time.
