Archaeologists have found many treasures at a site called Yinxu. This place was near modern Anyang and was the last capital of the Shang.

Workers found eleven large royal tombs there. They also found the foundations of old palace buildings. Many items were uncovered, like bronze, jade, and stone. They found tens of thousands of these beautiful things. These objects help us see their world.

One of the most amazing finds is early Chinese writing. This writing was found on items called oracle bones.

The Shang moved their capital five different times. Their final capital was called Yin.

The dynasty ended when the Zhou people defeated them. The last Shang king was named Di Xin. After the war, some Shang families stayed important. They helped the new Zhou rulers with many jobs. Some of these families even became dukes. A famous thinker named Confucius might have been a descendant of these royal families.
