Seville became a very important place for world trade. In the 16th century, it was one of the largest cities in Western Europe. This happened because it was the gateway for trade with the Americas.

A special group called the Casa de Contratación managed this trade. Ships had to sail up the Guadalquivir River to reach the port. This was a hard job because the ships were getting much larger. Eventually, the trade moved away to the Bay of Cádiz. This change happened because of dry weather and changes in the river.

There are many amazing things to see in Seville. The city is known for its beautiful architecture and warm weather. In July and August, it gets very hot. Daily temperatures often go above 35 degrees Celsius.
