Sesshū studied under a master named Tenshō Shūbun. Later, he traveled to China for three years. In China, he saw many landscapes and learned new ways to paint. He mixed Chinese styles with Japanese styles to make his own look. One of his famous works is Winter Landscape. In this painting, he used sharp lines to show a snowy scene.
