He lived in Japan a long time ago. He made this work near the end of his life. It is an ink wash painting. This means he used ink on paper. The art shows a large landscape. Two pine trees stand tall like a mountain peak. A zigzag path leads to a small building. An old man and a young helper walk on the path.

Sesshū used different amounts of ink. The rocks and plants have dark ink. The sea and sky have light ink. This makes the painting feel very strong. He added green to the pine needles. He added orange to the buildings. Some ink on the path looks like shadows.

Two friends wrote poems on the art. One poem was written in 1507. That was one year after Sesshū died. This painting was once lost for a long time. A dealer found it in a shop in 1906. Now, Japan calls it a National Treasure. It stays with the Ōhara family in Japan.
