The two men ruled together for a time. This was called a co-regency. It helped make sure the power stayed stable. Historians use many clues to study this. Some use a rock found at Konosso. Others look at documents with two dates. This helped the transition of power work well.

This king wanted to help his people grow food. He focused on the Faiyum oasis region. This area is in Middle Egypt.

He built a huge irrigation system there. He made a dike at El-Lahun. He also built many drainage canals. These canals moved water from Lake Moeris. This project helped turn marshy land into farms. It made the area a great place for hunting and fishing. This work helped the land prosper for a long time.

Senusret II also built a great pyramid. He built it at a place called El-Lahun. He moved his royal burial site there from Dahshur.

The pyramid had a frame of limestone arms. He filled the inside with mud bricks. Then he covered it with limestone. He even built a trench to stop water damage. This shows he was a careful builder. He also built a town for workers nearby. This town was called Senusrethotep.

Life during his reign was peaceful. There were no recorded wars. Instead, many people traded with lands in the Near-East.

People from far away came to visit the king. They brought many gifts. One group was called the Aamu. They might have been Canaanites or Bedouins. This was a time of wealth for Egypt. The king also worked well with local leaders. These leaders were called nomarchs. One such leader was named Khnumhotep II.

We know much about his family today. His daughter was Princess Sithathoriunet.

Archaeologists found her beautiful jewelry. They found a gold crown and pectorals.
