Seenu Atoll is in the far south of the Maldives.

It is a long way from the capital city, Malé. This atoll is part of Addu City. This city has several islands where people live. These include Hulhudhoo, Meedhoo, Maradhoo, Feydhoo, and Hithadhoo. The island of Gan has a large airport.

The water in the lagoon is very calm. This is because of four natural channels. These paths let boats move in and out safely. Barrier reefs also protect the land from big waves. You can see many coconut palms growing on the islands. There are also small lakes and marshy fields.

Many animals live here. The white tern is a bird that lives only here. It is a symbol of the islands. The sea is full of whales and dolphins. The coral reefs here are very healthy. They were not hurt by warm ocean currents in 1998.

Long ago, the name Addu meant eight islands. This is because eight islands had people living on them. One island, Meedhoo, has some of the oldest homes in the country.
