Sprickets are tiny arachnids. People also call them short-tailed whip-scorpions.

These small creatures have unique bodies. Their front part is split into two plates. This part is called the prosoma. Their back part is an oval shape. This is the opisthosoma. At the very end is a short tail. This tail is called a flagellum. Males have a one-part tail. Females have a tail with three or four parts.

Sprickets use six legs to walk. They use their first two legs to feel things. These are sensory legs. They also have large pincers called pedipalps. They use these to grab prey. Their back legs help them jump away from danger.

Most sprickets live in warm, wet places. They like rainforest soil and leaf litter. Some live in caves or under rocks. They must stay moist so they do not dry out. They are hunters. They eat small bugs like worms and termites. They use their pincers to catch food. Then they use their mouth parts to eat. Some sprickets can live five months without food.
