This article covers sensitive topics: religion. Parents can manage visibility in Parental Controls.

Repentance is when someone looks at their own actions. They feel sorry for doing something wrong. It is not just a feeling. It also means a person wants to change. They try to live a better life.

Many religions use this idea. In Judaism, the word means to return. People use it to change their ways. In Christianity, it is a step to be saved. Some groups focus on it during Lent. In Islam, it is called tawba. This is a direct matter between a person and God. If a person hurts someone, they must make it right.

Other faiths have similar ways. Hinduism uses self-reflection to help people. Buddhism teaches people to look at their actions. This helps them stay on a good path. In Hawaii, there is a practice called hooponopono. It is a way to find forgiveness and peace. It can be done by a priest or a family elder. It helps people feel better and fix bonds. Repentance helps people grow and be more kind.
