It has twelve flat faces. Each face is a pentagon. A pentagon is a shape with five sides. This shape also has thirty edges. It has twenty corners, which math people call vertices.

Long ago, a thinker named Plato studied these shapes. He called them Platonic solids. He thought this shape might represent the whole universe. Later, Johannes Kepler used it to model our Solar System. He placed the shapes between the planets.

This shape is linked to the golden ratio. That is a special number used in math and art. The dodecahedron is also the dual of the icosahedron. This means they share a deep link. If you put an icosahedron inside it, they fit together perfectly. You can find this shape in many places today. Some people use it as a twelve-sided die for games. You might even see it in art or clever puzzles.
