He helped turn economics into a real science. He used math and statistics to explain the world. This made his ideas much more precise. He wanted economics to be like physics. He believed math could show how things work. This way of thinking changed everything for future researchers.

Frisch created many new ways to look at the world. He made up the word "econometrics" in 1926. This word describes using math to study economic systems. He also created the terms "microeconomics" and "macroeconomics" in 1933. Microeconomics looks at small parts of the economy. Macroeconomics looks at the whole system at once. He even made a model to study business cycles. A business cycle is how the economy moves up and down. These tools help us understand how money flows.

His journey started in a family of metal workers. His father, Anton Frisch, was a goldsmith in Oslo.

The family had worked with silver and gold for 300 years. Ragnar even worked as an apprentice in a workshop. However, he decided to study at the University of Oslo. He earned his degree in 1919. He later traveled to the United States to study more. He spent time at Yale and the University of Minnesota. This helped him meet other great thinkers.

Frisch did many amazing things during his long career. In 1932, he led the new Institute of Economics in Oslo. He was also a founder of the Econometric Society in 1930. He edited a famous journal called Econometrica for 21 years. In 1969, he won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. He shared this big honor with Jan Tinbergen. They won for their work on economic models. During a war, he was sadly arrested by Nazi Germany. He was held in several camps during 1943 and 1944.

Today, we still remember his name in many places. The Frisch Medal is given to best researchers every two years. There is also a center for economic study named after him. Even a large hall at his university bears his name. Outside of math, he had a very interesting hobby. He loved to keep bees. He even performed science studies on bees. This shows how curious he was about all living things. His life was full of discovery and hard work.
