They sit along the border of France and Spain. The small country of Andorra is also tucked between them.

The mountains have three main parts. These are the Western, Central, and Eastern Pyrenees. The Central part has the highest peaks. The tallest one is named Aneto.

Many things make this place special. You can find many waterfalls in the valleys. Some are very tall. One famous spot is the Cirque de Gavarnie.

This is a large, semi-circle shape made of steep cliffs.

The weather changes from one side to the other. The western side gets much more rain and snow. This is because moist air comes from the Atlantic Ocean. The eastern side is much drier.

People have used the mountains for a long time. They find many types of stone here. Some of the marble is very pretty. It was used to decorate royal palaces in France and Spain.
