Project

technology Maturity 11-13 Next article →

A project is a special kind of job. It is a set of steps to reach a goal. Most projects have a clear start and a clear end. This means they are not meant to last forever.

Projects help people solve problems or meet a need. A project might make a new product. It might also provide a new service. Some projects are very large. We call these megaprojects. The Great Pyramid of Giza is a famous example. The Apollo program was another big project. It landed humans on the Moon.

To finish well, teams use a plan. They must watch three main things. These are the calendar, the cost, and the quality. If a project costs too much, it might stop. This is called cancellation. A project can be cancelled if the goal changes. It can also stop if the money runs out. Teams try to measure risks to avoid this. This helps them make better choices.
