The Pro Kabaddi League, often called the PKL, is a major men's sports league in India. It is the most popular kabaddi league on Earth. In India, it is the second most watched sports league, right after cricket. People love to watch the matches on Star Sports. The league grew because kabaddi is played by many people in local communities. This helps the league reach viewers in both small towns and big cities.

Teams follow a specific way to play called a round-robin format. In this stage, each team plays six other teams twice. They play the remaining six teams only once. After these games, the top four teams go to the playoffs. The teams in fifth through eighth place go to the play-ins. These matches help decide who reaches the final. The team that wins the final match becomes the champion.

This league started in 2014 after kabaddi became popular at the 2006 Asian Games. The first season had eight teams. Each team paid up to US$250,000 to join the league. The very first match was between U Mumba and the Jaipur Pink Panthers. The Jaipur Pink Panthers won that first final with a score of 35–24. Since then, many new teams have joined the competition. For example, the league grew to 12 teams by the fifth season in 2017.

Many different teams have won the championship trophy over the years. The Patna Pirates are very successful and won three times in a row. The Jaipur Pink Panthers and Dabang Delhi have each won twice. Dabang Delhi is the current champion after winning in 2025. Other winners include U Mumba, Bengaluru Bulls, Bengal Warriorz, Puneri Paltan, and Haryana Steelers. Each team works hard to reach the top of the standings.

Players can earn special prizes for their great skills during the season. One prize is for the Most Valuable Player, or MVP. There are also awards for the Best Raider and the Best Defender. These awards recognize players who perform exceptionally well. For instance, Naveen Kumar won the MVP award two times in a row. Pawan Sehrawat also won the Best Raider award two seasons in a row. These honors show how much skill is needed to play in the PKL.
