She is celebrated for her powerful vocals and her unique acrobatic stage presence. This athletic performance style is rooted in her childhood training as a competitive gymnast. She practiced gymnastics from age 4 until she was 12 years old. Beyond her music, she is recognized for her activism and her impact on global pop culture. Throughout her career, she has become one of the world's best-selling music artists.

Pink's professional journey began in the mid-1990s with a girl group called Choice.

At age 15, she and two other teenagers signed a contract with LaFace Records in Atlanta, Georgia. Their song "Key to My Heart" appeared on the soundtrack for the 1996 film *Kazaam*. However, the group disbanded in 1998 after the label executive gave Pink an ultimatum to go solo. This transition led to her first solo album, *Can't Take Me Home*, released in 2000. The album featured R&B influences and produced top-ten hits like "There You Go" and "Most Girls." It earned double platinum certification from the RIAA, meaning it shipped two million units in the United States.

In 2001, Pink experienced a major career milestone through a high-profile collaboration. She performed a cover of "Lady Marmalade" for the *Moulin Rouge!* soundtrack alongside Christina Aguilera, Mýa, and Lil' Kim.

Seeking more creative control, Pink shifted her musical style for her second album, *Missundaztood*.

She wanted to move away from being marketed as a standard pop act. To achieve a pop rock sound, she moved into the home of songwriter Linda Perry to write songs. The album title reflected Pink's feeling that the public had a mistaken image of her. *Missundaztood* became her best-selling record, with over 13 million copies sold worldwide. It produced several hits, including "Get the Party Started" and "Just Like a Pill."

Pink's career continued through various musical evolutions and genres. Her third album, *Try This*, released in 2003, moved toward a different sound and earned her a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
