She first achieved widespread fame as the lead vocalist for the ska-pop band No Doubt. Her career has spanned several decades and multiple musical genres. She has moved from the ska sounds of the 1990s to solo pop music. Stefani has also become a successful entrepreneur in the fashion industry. Her influence reaches across music, style, and even film.

Stefani's musical journey began in Fullerton, California, where she was born on October 3, 1969. Her parents, Dennis and Patti Stefani, exposed her to folk music artists like Bob Dylan and Emmylou Harris. Her brother, Eric, played a crucial role in her early career. In 1986, Eric invited her to provide vocals for his new ska band, No Doubt. After the band's original singer passed away in 1987, Stefani became the sole lead vocalist. She eventually left California State University, Fullerton, to focus entirely on her music career.

No Doubt saw massive mainstream success with their third studio album, Tragic Kingdom, released in 1995. This album took more than three years to complete. It featured the hit single "Don't Speak," which led the Hot 100 Airplay year-end chart in 1997. By 2004, Tragic Kingdom had sold more than 16 million copies worldwide.
