Petchara Chaowarat is a famous actress from Thailand. She was a major star during the "Golden Age" of Thai cinema. This was a very special time for movies in her country. People loved her for her many elaborate hairstyles. She appeared in around 300 films during her long career. This career lasted from 1961 until 1979.

Her work on film sets followed a busy path. She started her first starring role in 1961. That film was called Banthuk Rak Pimchawee. It is also known as Love Diary of Pimchawee. She often worked with a leading man named Mitr Chaibancha. They were a very popular pair for many years. Together, they starred in more than 150 different films.

One of their most famous movies was Monrak luk thung. This film came out in the 1970s. It is a musical about life in the Thai countryside. Petchara also won a big award in 1964. The Thailand National Film Awards gave her the best actress prize. She won this for her role in the film Nok Noi. King Bhumibol gave her the award himself.

Life on film sets changed for Petchara in 1970. Her co-star Mitr Chaibancha died in an accident. This happened on the set of the film Insee tong. Petchara continued to act in many more movies after that. She starred in a musical comedy called Ai Tui in 1971. In that film, she worked with Sombat Metanee. He became a popular leading man after Mitr passed away.

Her last film was released in 1979 called Ai Khuntong. Many years of working under bright lights affected her eyes. These lights caused her to become nearly blind. Because of this, she does not make public appearances often. Her legacy lives on through other artists today. In 2004, a film called The Adventure of Iron Pussy used her style. A character's hair and clothes were based on her. She was named a National Artist of Thailand in 2018.
