Patricia Hill Collins is a famous teacher and writer. She was born in 1948 in Philadelphia. Her mother loved books and taught her to read early. Patricia also loved music. She can play the piano, organ, and trumpet.

As she grew up, Patricia saw unfair things. She noticed that being a Black woman was hard. Some people used mean labels to treat Black women poorly. These labels made women feel small or quiet. Patricia wanted to change this.

She went to many great schools. She studied sociology, which is the study of how people live in groups. In 1990, she wrote a big book called Black Feminist Thought. This book became very famous around the world. It was even translated into many languages.

Patricia uses a word called intersectionality. This means that people can face many types of unfairness at once. For example, a person might face unfairness because of their race and their gender. Patricia helps us see how these things work together. She is a leader who helps make the world more fair.
