She studies how science and people work together. Haraway was born in 1944 in Colorado. Her father worked as a writer. Her mother died when Donna was sixteen.

Donna studied biology at Colorado College. Later, she earned a Ph.D. from Yale University in 1972. She became a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She was the first tenured professor for feminist theory in the United States.

She writes about many big ideas. One famous idea is the "cyborg." A cyborg is a mix of a machine and a living thing. She uses this idea to talk about women and technology. She also writes about animals. In her book, *Primate Visions*, she looks at how scientists study monkeys. She says scientists often have biases. This means their own views can change what they see.

Haraway has won many awards. She won the J.D. Bernal Award in 2000. In 2025, she received the Erasmus Prize. Her work helps us think about science, nature, and how we live together.
