Today, many people still visit him through their faith.

His life began as a young boy named Francesco Forgione. He was born on May 25, 1887, in a small town called Pietrelcina. His parents were farmers who worked the land. Francesco helped his family by looking after their sheep. When he was only five years old, he said he decided to serve God. He eventually joined the Capuchin friars when he was fifteen years old.
