Panini was a very smart scholar. He lived in ancient India. He wrote a famous book. It was about a way to talk called Sanskrit.

His book had many short rules. There were almost 4,000 rules. These rules helped people use words the right way. This helped the language stay the same.

Panini's work was very special. It helped people learn to read and write. People studied his rules for a long time. He is like a father to people who study language.

Some stories say he got his rules from a god. This god played a small drum. Panini used the sounds to make his rules.
