arts Maturity 7-9 Next article →

A man named Bhāsa wrote plays a long time ago. He wrote thirteen stories. These stories were often short. Many were about old legends and heroes.

Bhāsa was a very famous writer. Other poets knew his name. His plays were lost for many years. A scholar found them again in 1910.

His plays are special. Most old plays had happy endings. But some of his plays were sad. One play shows a hero who is hurt.

He also showed kindness to bad characters. He made people feel for them. This was a new way to tell stories.

Today, people still act out his plays. They use dance and art to show them. His stories live on.
