Ovarian cancer is a sickness that grows in the ovaries.

The ovaries are small parts inside a woman's body. They are made of three types of cells. Sometimes these cells grow in a strange way. They divide too much and make a lump called a tumor.

Most cases come from a type called epithelial carcinoma. This makes up more than 95% of all cases.

This sickness can be hard to find at first. It may not cause any pain right away. Some women feel bloated or have a full belly. They might also feel pain in their lower belly. As the tumor grows, it can press on other parts. It can also spread to the liver or lungs.

Age is a big factor for this sickness. Most women find out they have it after menopause. This is the time when a woman's monthly cycles stop. Some women have a higher risk because of their genes. Changes in genes called BRCA1 or BRCA2 can lead to cancer.
