Ottomar Anschütz was a German inventor and photographer. He helped start the way we make movies. In 1884, he took photos of white storks. These were the first photos of birds in the wild.

Anschütz wanted to capture fast movement. He made a portable camera in 1882. It could take very quick pictures. He used many cameras to study how horses move. His pictures looked very natural. Other people made moving pictures, but theirs often looked like dark shadows. Anschütz's work had better light and color.

He also built the Electrotachyscope. This was a machine that showed short moving loops. It used 24 glass photos on a big wheel. A person turned a handle to make it spin.

Many people paid to see his work. In 1892, 34,000 people saw his machine in Berlin. Some machines even used coins to work. His ideas may have helped other inventors. For example, his bird photos helped Otto Lilienthal build early gliders. Anschütz was a true pioneer of film.
