Osh has a history of trading goods for a long time. For 2,000 years, people have used a large outdoor bazaar. This market was once a major stop on the Silk Road. The Silk Road was a famous path for traders between Europe and Asia. The bazaar used to sit along the Ak-Buura River. In 2025, the city moved the market to a new facility. This new building is a few kilometers north of the old spot.

There are many interesting landmarks to see in and around the city. Sulayman Mountain is a World Heritage Site located nearby. Some researchers think this mountain was the "Stone Tower" mentioned in ancient books. There is a museum carved right into the mountain. It holds many old items and tells stories about local plants and animals. You can also find the 16th-century Rabat Abdul Khan Mosque. The city also has the second-largest mosque in Kyrgyzstan.

Traveling to and from Osh is easier than it used to be. Most people travel by road to get around the region. There is a long road through the mountains that leads to the capital, Bishkek. You can also fly from Osh Airport to Bishkek or to Russia. The city has two railway stations as well. However, there is no passenger train service at the moment. Most trains only carry freight, which is goods for trade.
