Objectivism is a way of thinking. A writer named Ayn Rand created it. She first shared these ideas in her stories.

Later, she wrote books to explain them more. A thinker named Leonard Peikoff helped organize her ideas.

This system is based on reality. It says that things exist even if we do not think about them. People learn about the world through their senses. We see, hear, and touch things to know they are real. Our minds do not make reality. Instead, our minds help us find it. This is called reason.

Rand had a few main rules for this idea. One rule is that things have a set nature. For example, a leaf cannot be red and green at once. Another rule is that people should seek their own happiness. She thought being productive was a noble goal.

Objectivism also has views on how people should live together. It says we should respect individual rights. This includes a system called laissez-faire capitalism. Many people find these ideas useful for living on earth. Some teachers in colleges do not use these ideas, but many others do.
