NGC 4151 is a special kind of galaxy. It is a spiral galaxy. This means it has a shape like a spinning disk.

You can find it in the stars of Canes Venatici. William Herschel first saw it in 1787.

This galaxy has a very big black hole at its center. It is a supermassive black hole. That means it is very heavy. It has the mass of 2.5 million to 30 million suns.

Some people call it the "Eye of Sauron." This is because of how it looks.

The black hole is very busy. It lets out X-rays. These are a type of bright light. Scientists think this happens in two ways. One way is from material falling into the black hole. This makes gas very hot. Another way is from a disk of gas. This disk is called an accretion disk.

This disk lets out a strong flow of gas. This flow also heats the gas up. This makes the gas glow with X-rays. One star in this galaxy also exploded. This was a supernova called SN 2018aoq. It happened in April 2018.
