Nefta is a town in Tunisia. It is a green oasis. It sits in the Tozeur Governorate. The town is north of a place called Chott el Djerid. It is 400 kilometers from the capital city, Tunis.

Nefta is known as the "Land of Palms." Many palm and olive trees grow in this land. The town has two parts. A small river called an oued splits them. The new town is to the east. The old town sits on a hill to the west. The houses are shaped like cubes. They have flat roofs. In some streets, the top floors hang over the road. This makes a tunnel to block the sun.

Many people visit Nefta for its history. Long ago, the Romans and Byzantines built forts here. Later, the town was a busy stop for trade caravans. Today, people visit for festivals. There is a Folk Festival in April. There is also a Date Festival in late autumn. Nefta is also a holy place. It has many mosques and holy tombs. We call these tombs marabouts. People travel from far away to visit them.
