It was started in 1869 by Norman Lockyer and Alexander Macmillan. They wanted to share new scientific ideas with everyone.

Many scientists write for Nature. They write about biology, physics, and chemistry. They also study the Earth and space. Most of these stories are research papers. These are reports on new studies. It is very hard to get a paper in Nature. Fewer than 8% of papers are accepted. This is because the work must be very good.

Being in Nature is a big deal. It gives scientists prestige. Prestige means they get respect from others. It can also help them get money for more work.
