It works much faster than a hand hammer. Morris Pynoos designed the first nail gun. He built it for a large wooden plane. This plane was called the Spruce Goose.

Many tools use different ways to work. Most nail guns are pneumatic. This means they use compressed air. An air compressor makes this power.

Other guns use electricity or gas. Some use a solenoid. A solenoid is a part that uses magnetism to move. This is good for delicate work like cabinets.

Nails come in many shapes and sizes. Some are very thin. We call these pin nails. They leave tiny holes in the wood. Other nails are called brads. These are stronger for trim work. Large nails are used for building big frames.

Safety is very important when using these tools.

You must use them with care. Some guns have special triggers. A sequential trigger is a safer kind. It must touch the wood before it can fire. This helps prevent accidents.
