Momoiro Clover Z is a famous Japanese idol group. Many fans call them MCZ for short. They are known for very high energy performances. Their shows mix music with ballet and gymnastics. They even use moves from action movies.

Each member wears a specific color. These colors help fans tell them apart on stage. They use red, yellow, pink, purple, blue, or green. This style is like the heroes in Super Sentai or Power Rangers.

To make their music, the group works very hard. They started as a small street act in 2008. They performed for people in Yoyogi Park in Tokyo. At first, they were a five-member group called Momoiro Clover. They traveled across Japan in a small minibus. The girls even slept in the van during their tour. They played 104 concerts at electronic stores to share their music.

The group's name changed in 2011. This happened after member Akari Hayami left the group. They added the letter "Z" to their name. In Japan, "Z" can mean something is the ultimate version. The group said it was a nod to the anime Dragon Ball Z.

Since then, they have reached huge goals. They were the first female group to play at the National Olympic Stadium. In 2014, 150,000 people watched their big show there.

MCZ has many impressive records and numbers. In 2013, they earned over 5.2 billion yen in sales. This was the fourth highest for any music artist in Japan that year. During 2016, about 636,000 people attended their live concerts. This was the most ever for a Japanese female group. They also sold more than 3 million physical music copies in Japan.

You might recognize their music from famous shows. They provided theme songs for Pokémon and Sailor Moon Crystal. They also sang for the movie Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'. The group even worked with the American rock band KISS. In 2016, they went on a tour called Trans America Ultra Live. They visited fans in Hawaii, Los Angeles, and New York.
