One group was called the Mohists. They followed a man named Mozi. He lived in the 4th century BC.

Mohists believed in a special kind of love. They called it "universal love." This means caring for everyone the same way. You should care for a stranger as much as your own family. This was different from other groups. Those groups thought family should come first.

Mohists also liked math and science. They were great at building things for defense. They helped small states protect themselves from big wars. They used their skills to build strong walls.

They had ideas about how to run a country. Mozi said leaders should pick the best people for jobs. This is called meritocracy. It means you get a job because you are good at it. It should not be because you are related to the ruler. This helps a land stay strong and fair.

Mohists lived very simple lives. They did not like to waste things. They believed being thrifty helped people have enough food and clothes. They wanted a peaceful world for all.
