The fish likes to hide in thick plants. Adult fish live in deep weeds. Young fish stay in shallow water near the shore. They do not like open water.

Weatherfish can live in places with very little air in the water. They do this by breathing air from the sky. The fish swims to the surface to gulp air. The air goes into its intestines. The intestines are part of its gut. Blood vessels take the oxygen from the air. Then the fish lets the air out. This helps them survive in many places.
