His time as a doctor helped him write stories.

Later, he chose to write books and plays. He wrote a play called The Days of the Turbins. A leader named Joseph Stalin liked this play. Stalin even watched it many times. But some of Bulgakov's other work was banned. This means the government said people could not read it. This happened because the leaders did not like his ideas.

Bulgakov worked hard even when it was difficult. He wrote a famous book called The Master and Margarita. He worked on it for many years. Many of his stories were kept in a drawer for a long time. They were only shared with the world much later. Today, people see him as a great master of stories.
