In the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, he did something very special. He won both the 200 meters and 400 meters races. He was the only man to win both at one Olympics. People called him "The Man With the Golden Shoes." This was because he wore bright gold racing spikes. These spikes were made of a material called Zytel. His right foot was longer than his left. So, his right shoe was a size 11. His left shoe was a size 10.5.

Johnson had a unique way of running. He ran very upright with short steps. Many people thought runners needed to lift their knees high to go fast. Johnson proved them wrong. He set many world records. He even held the fastest 400 meters time in history for a long time. After he stopped racing, he began working for the BBC. Now, he talks about track and field on television.
