This stone is called the Mesha Stele. It was made around 840 BCE. It is a big block of dark rock. It has 34 lines of writing on it. The writing is in the Moabite language.

A king named Mesha wrote the words. He was the king of Moab. Moab was a land in the area we now call Jordan. Mesha wrote about his life and his wins. He said his god, Chemosh, helped him. He wrote about winning wars against the Kingdom of Israel.

Mesha also wrote about his building projects. He built walls, towers, and a palace. He even told his people to dig wells for water.

A man named Frederick Klein found the stone in 1868. It was found in a place called Dibon. Later, the stone was broken into many pieces. An expert named Clermont-Ganneau used a paper copy to fix it. He put the pieces back together. Today, the stone is in a museum in France.
