During the Industrial Revolution, machines changed everything. People used steam engines to pump water from mines. They also used machines to make cloth. Later, iron replaced wood in many machine parts. This made them much stronger.

Today, most machines use electricity or fuel. An electric motor uses power from a plug. An internal combustion engine uses fuel to make power. This helps us make things like glass bottles very fast. Machines can even do tasks all by themselves. This is called automation. Automation uses sensors to guide the work. This lets machines work with very little help from people.
