In 1926, he published a book called The Life of Termites. A scientist named Eugène Marais accused him of plagiarism. Plagiarism is when someone takes another person's work and calls it their own. Marais said Maeterlinck copied his ideas about termite nests. This was a sad and difficult struggle for everyone involved. Even with these problems, Maeterlinck remains a major figure in literature.
