Manufacturing

technology Maturity 11-13 Vital Level 2 Next article →

Manufacturing is the way we make goods. It uses tools, machines, and workers. People take raw materials and change them. They turn them into finished products. These products can be small or big. They might be cars or even toys.

Long ago, people made things by hand. They used stones to make sharp tools. Later, they learned to use metals. They made bronze and iron tools. These metals were much stronger than stone.

In the past, the Industrial Revolution changed everything. People stopped making things only by hand. They started using steam and water power. This led to the rise of factories. These factories used machines to work faster.

Today, we use electricity to power our factories. This helps make many items at once. We call this mass production. One famous company used this for cars. They used many special tools to build them. In Japan, people made a new way. They call it lean manufacturing. This way helps make things more quickly. It also helps get items to people faster.
