Formed in Bangkok in 1994, the group was led by singer, guitarist, and composer Seksan Sukpimai, known as Sek Loso. The original trio included Kittisak Khoatkham, called Yai, on drums and Apirath Sukkhajitr, known as Rath, on bass guitar. The band's name is a clever play on the Thai slang term "hi-so." This term comes from the English phrase "high society" and describes the wealthy upper class. By choosing the name Loso, the band signaled their connection to ordinary people. They wanted their music to reflect the real struggles and emotions of everyday life.

To achieve this connection, Loso developed a unique and complex musical identity. They fused guitar-driven indie music with heavy metal elements and traditional Thai melodies. This style was inspired by the grunge movement of the early 1990s, specifically the raw sound of the band Nirvana. Their songs often balance aggressive, fast guitar riffs with slower, introspective moments. For example, the song "Khon" features a heavy metal edge, while other tracks capture a Seattle-inspired grunge sound. This blend allowed them to bridge the gap between Western rock styles and local Thai sensibilities.

The journey to success began with significant challenges for the band members. Before moving to Bangkok, Sek studied electrical engineering at Nakorn Sawan Technical College. He played in various provincial pubs and joined a band called "Diamond." It was there that he met Rath. After a short-lived band called Climax broke up in 1994, Sek and Yai moved to the capital to pursue music. Initially, record labels rejected them because their unconventional sound did not fit the popular pop trends of the time. Their breakthrough came when they were introduced to Saksit Tangthong, who recommended them to Asanee Chotikul. Asanee, a famous rock musician, signed them to his More Music label.

Loso's recording process was intense and highly focused. For their debut album, *Lo-Society*, the band spent 20 days recording at Butterfly Studio in Bangkok between January and February 1996. They worked with co-producer Pichet Kruawan, a member of the band Y NOT 7. This collaboration helped refine their sound, turning previously rejected demos into a polished debut. *Lo-Society* was an immediate success, selling over one million copies in Thailand. Interestingly, the band did not use major advertising, relying instead on posters and word-of-mouth to build their massive following.

The band reached even greater heights with their subsequent releases. Their second album, *Entertainment*, released in March 1998, became their most successful work. It sold over two million copies and earned them the Season Award for Best Group in 1999. Following this, they released the album *Rock & Roll*, which also exceeded one million copies in sales. In 2001, they released *The Red Album*. This album was named at the suggestion of Paiboon Damrongchaitham, the Chairman of GMM Grammy. The cover was designed as a symbolic protest against the piracy of CDs and tapes in Thailand. The opening track, "Pan Tip," used satire to criticize the Pan Tip Plaza, a famous venue for pirated music.

Loso's history is marked by periods of separation and reunion. The band disbanded in 2003 so Sek could study in England. During this time, Sek released a highly successful album with the singer Thongchai McIntyre, which sold two million copies. While some members formed new groups, like Yai and Rath forming Fahrenheit, the bond between the original members remained. After many years apart, the band began to reunite in 2019. They performed a major reunion live-streaming concert in December 2021. Although Rath has been unable to rejoin due to health concerns, the band has continued touring with Sek, Yai, and Nattaphon "Klang" Suntharaanu.

The impact of Loso on the Thai music industry cannot be overstated. They were among the first Thai bands to gain international recognition, performing at major festivals like Glastonbury and South By Southwest. By proving that alternative rock could achieve massive commercial success, they paved the way for many other rock and alternative artists in Thailand. Their music moved the national conversation away from mainstream pop toward more authentic, raw expressions of emotion. Even during their current hiatus, their legacy as innovators of the Thai rock scene remains profound.
