Llanos

geography Maturity 7-9 Next article →

The Llanos is a big, flat land. It is in South America. It sits in Colombia and Venezuela.

A large river called the Orinoco flows through it. The land has much grass and some trees. Sometimes, the land gets very wet. This happens during the rainy season.

Rain makes the land flood. This creates new homes for water birds. You might see a scarlet ibis there. Many big cats like the jaguar live here too.

People herd many cows on the grass. They also find oil deep in the ground. The Llanos is a very busy place.
