Limes have a very strong, sour taste. This is because they have a lot of citric acid. This acid is much higher than in oranges. Limes also have much vitamin C. This helps keep people healthy. In the 1800s, sailors ate limes to stay well.

There are many kinds of limes. Key limes are small and have many seeds. Persian limes are larger and have almost no seeds.

Makrut limes have bumpy skin and a strong smell. People use different limes for many things. Some use them in food like guacamole. Others use lime oils for perfume or cleaning.

Many places in the world grow limes. They like warm, tropical areas. In 2023, India and Mexico led the way. They grew the most limes along with lemons.
