Later, Trotsky became a revolutionary. This means he wanted to change how the government worked. He joined a group called the Bolsheviks. 

After the war, Trotsky was a top leader. He worked with Vladimir Lenin. But after Lenin died, things changed. A man named Joseph Stalin took power. Stalin forced Trotsky out of the country.

Trotsky wanted to change how the government worked. He became a revolutionary to help workers. He joined a group called the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in 1898. This led to him being arrested and sent to Siberia. 

In 1917, Trotsky helped lead the October Revolution. He was a key part of the new Soviet state. He served as the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs. He helped Russia leave World War I through a treaty. 

After Lenin died in 1924, a struggle for power began. Joseph Stalin became a very strong leader in the Soviet Union. Stalin worked to push Trotsky out of the government. 

While living in Mexico, Trotsky kept writing about his ideas. He believed that revolutions should spread to other countries.
