Language education is the way people teach new languages.

It helps people talk to others in many jobs. People use languages for trade, science, and travel. Many countries make kids learn a second language in school. This includes places like China, Japan, and Korea.

In the past, people learned by reading small stories. They used two columns of text. One side had the new language. The other side had the language they knew. In the 1600s, a man named John Amos Comenius wrote about learning. He said teachers should use pictures and real objects. He even made the first picture book for children.

Later, many schools used the grammar-translation method. This meant students memorized rules and translated text. They did not speak much. In the 1900s, new ideas changed how we teach. Some experts thought learning was a habit from practice. Others thought humans are born with a way to think in language.

Today, many students study Spanish, French, or German.
